After a crazy night full of chanting, magicians and fire tricks plus a glass or two of ouzo, we at Love That Music are proud to announce the return of Oh Snap! To Mynt Thursday on February 23rd.

A recap for those who don’t know; Mickey “Oh Snap!” Fortune is the man behind the dance floor destroyer and drunken rant anthem ‘Mister Ouzo‘.

Not only is he a banging producer, but his skills as a DJ have been proven when he took Mynt Thursday’s 4th birthday to a whole new level!

Joining him is one of our favourite ‘Fumb House’ friends; Swick. With releases on Top Billin, Malente’s No Brainer Records and many more, he knows how to get you movin’ your feet!

Clear your calendars, take a day off work, do whatever you can because when Oh Snap! Does the Burbs at Mynt Thursday comes round, you’re going to need a day to recover.

Knock Knock at the Barking Dog has reached the final stretch of its Summer Series and what better way to finish off a huge season than taking part in the infamous Pako Festa celebrations.

Pako Festa is the biggest event in the Geelong Community with over 10,000 people hitting the streets for the annual celebration! On the 25th of February, the community and arts festival (…which is in it’s 30th year) shall incorporate an extravagant street parade featuring around ninety floats and hundreds of performers. Representing forty-five affiliated ethnic communities and around sixty other local groups and organisations. The Barking Dog also throws an annual event as apart of the shenanigans, last year attracting a crowd of 4,000 plus revellers.

This year Australia’s number one DJs and reality show stars the Stafford Brothers shall be joining the party, putting on a performance that will turn the Pako Festa upside down. Accompanying them will be Melbourne favourite Stevie Mink; LTM’s head honcho James Fava, disco lovers Yasumo and Geelong’s very own Circus Circus!

Come one, come all – Make sure you don’t miss out on Geelong’s biggest calendar event.

Polo is described as a game resembling field hockey, played on horseback with a long-handled mallet.

Modern times have seen it become a more social environment where an influx of people watch a game resembling field hockey, played on horseback with a long-handled mallet. Said individuals hold a range of enticing drinks and canapés whilst listening to blissful tunes. Their attire is smart and their conversations range from politics to religion to the shareholders market to where in the world their 3-month family vacation shall take them this year.

A change in time yet again has seen Love That Music and Big Dog Entertainment take those traditional elements and blend them into a more casual, ‘laidback’ feel and sense of entertainment. After the success of the Portsea Polo in the not too distant past, the crews are merging to bring you the best-of-both-worlds at the upcoming Werribee event. Did someone say Corn Eating contest?

The Polo Club ‘Super-Site’ on Saturday March 24th at Werribee Park Mansion is giving you the chance to have it all. And more. Your elite ticket includes VIP access to the LTM and Big Dog allocated area, ALL food and beverages (Yes, That’s all day…), a plethora of DJs and live entertainment on rotation, Marquee and complete event viewing AND exclusive toilets – You’ll thank us later…

Do the math’s and then proceed to fall off your seat once you realise it’s all going down for the price of $150. That’s right one-hundred-and-fifty-dollars. Hop to it and grab your passes from www.ltmbigdogpoloclub.com.au, LTM headquarters ‘The Villa’ or Big Dog’s ‘The Kennel’.

Look sharp and get your punt on – We’ll see you on the field.

FYI – Don’t know what a chukka is? We suggest you do your research prior…

Feeling the love this Valentines day? We certainly are, and have just the thing to spice up even the dullest of romances.

Our favourite funkadelic brothers of disco house are at it again. That’s right, none other than our very own Yasumo - Finishing off a brand new remix of Dirty Laundry’s ‘Love is Crazy,’ set soon for a One Love release.

The track features some of Yasumo’s signature funky baselines and Summery disco vibes. Perfectly layered with the original vocal track to create a jam so monstrous it will get your dad up off the couch, into his favourite red speedo and doing the John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever! Don’t just take our word for it; check the ARIA Top 50 Club Chart where it has skyrocketed to number 8!

If this is only a preview of things to come for Yasumo in 2012, then this year is going to be a big one! Have a listen to a sample clip of the song here & buy it on Beatport!

Playing the same night as one of the world’s biggest DJ/Producers of the moment Oh Snap! – Is a man by the name of Swick. Who may have just gone unnoticed in all the hype. Well, the hype is now here and it’s time to listen up!

A local Melbournian youngster, Swick has already achieved so much in such a short time having his own tracks released on labels No Brainer, Top Billin’ and Sweat It Out! We had the chance to have a little chat with the man and here is what he had to say:

How did you first make the transition from DJ to Producer?

I was always kinda more interested in making music than DJing. I think it’s from watching Purple Rain too many times as a kid, not that it really shows in my music.

You have been down to our fine Mynt Lounge before, how would you describe your previous experiences?

Yeah I came down once with Tranter when he played, it was crazy. Pretty pumped to come down again as I always hear good things!

You are supporting USA powerhouse Oh Snap! What does it mean to be playing alongside a massive international act? Does it put more pressure on you to perform?

Always good to play with internationals something I don’t get to do too often. It’s exciting. Will just do my thing, hopefully it works…

For the people reading at home, what are your thoughts behind the term ‘send it’ – Was it somehow derived from its overuse from some of our locals..?

Haha, Yeah it was! We always made jokes about doing it then we made the perfect track for it, well at least we think so anyway, Haha.

We have noticed you and good friend Tranter have sort of created your own genre ‘Fumb House,’ can you explain what that is and how you came up with it?

Fumb House = Fun & Dumb House Music. Our manager Evet came up with the name but he doesn’t remember coming up with it. So maybe we did. We don’t know but we love Fumb House!

Catch Swick supporting Oh Snap! (USA) at Mynt Thursday on the 23rd of February. So put on your funkiest shirt and come party!

As long as humans have been able to capture images, we have wanted to capture them of ourselves. ‘Selfies’ can be dated back to as early as Leonardo Da Vinci with his ‘Self-portrait in Red Chalk’ from the early 1500’s and probably even earlier than that. From childhood we are encouraged to perform in the act of Selfies; my earliest memory from kindergarten was having to draw a picture of myself.

I would attribute the modernisation of Selfies to the early days of social networking on the once-popular MySpace (RIP). Everyone is guilty of taking at least one ‘mirror-shot’ in his or her time, and if it wasn’t in the mirror it may just have been holding this bad boy out in front of your face.

For those that are a confessed Selfie addict, or if you haven’t ever taken a Selfie (Liar!), there is no better time than now to get involved! Send us your favourite Selfie to selfie@lovethatmusic.com.au or #tag #Lovethatmusic on instagram to win yourself a Future Music Festival ticket and have your Selfie displayed on the big screen at the next Mynt Thursday! Be shameless!

a. Making a banging truffle oil fettucine
b. Have Tony Buchen produce your first single.
c. Have the capacity to call your band ‘Evan And The Brave’

Influenced by ‘a few older guys like America, The Band, Neil Young, Simon and Garfunkel,’ Evan and The Brave are an all-singing/all-playing quintet out of Sydney. Their first single has seen Triple J rotation and is doing serious play count damage in my iTunes.

The beauty of ‘Lil Monsters’ is the discovery of a new layer of sound with each listen. Playful but stern, the brass crescendos are reminiscent of Lennon’s ‘War Is Over’ and add a degree of mastery to an already magnificent three minutes.

Introducing Polographia a collective of two Sydney lads whom started off as DJ’s, spinning tunes just for fun.

After getting a bit more serious about music and branching off into production they have definitely found their niche in the chill-wave department. They master perfectly the glitchy-groove beats accompanied with nostalgic styled synths and ambient samples that make their music so enjoyable. Creating tunes to rival such genre heavyweights as Toro y Moi and Washed Out, Polographia have managed to craft themselves an acclaimed debut EP that has slyly snuck its way into my lazy Sunday afternoons.

Sunsets by polographia

Head on over to their Bandcamp page where you can download the Sunsets Ep for free.
