Danny T’s production and party gimmicks are not shy of the limelight. His tunes spend weeks and months in the Aria Charts and his trademark Sunglasses with attachable moustache’s seem to find themselves all over the interwebs because they are just so cool. His forthcoming single ‘Rubber Ducky‘ which is due out soon is set to be another dance-floor tune that you’ll wake up singing in the morning!

On May 30th, Danny T brings his infectious personality and sounds to ‘Do The Burbs’ at Mynt Thursday. Bring your moustache comb’s and be sure to get in early to secure your dance space and ‘shake it around’.

Our buddies over at CANT SAY have hosted some pretty epic acts over the last couple of months with the likes of Yolanda Be Cool, Twinsy, Peking Duk, Nina Las Vegas, Ta-ku, Lewie McKirdy and Surecut Kids taking to the main stage to put on some pretty special performances.

But as you know with every great performance, comes great support. So on May 24th, a superstar CANT SAY resident line-up of J Heasy, Tomderson, Swick, Mat Cant, Carlos Turner, Staggman & Play will take the limelight and put on some awesome performances of their own.

Nina Las Vegas is part Egyptian, part country and all busy.

Forced into music by her parents in Wagga Wagga, NSW, Nina took her classical piano skills to Sydney soon after High School and entered the exciting world of radio production. Producing mixtapes, podcasts and radio specials for half of Sydney, Nina was quickly coerced into becoming a DJ.

Nina Las Vegas has quite a lot on her plate. Not only does she ‘woo’ listeners with her voice and tune selection every Saturday night on Triple J’s House Party but she is also one third of DJ group ‘Hoops’ with Anna Lunoe & Bad Ezzy, is the founder of ‘Heaps Decent’ (an initiative committed to finding and nurturing the creativity of underprivileged and indigenous people) with DJ friends Diplo & Levins, yet to mention her own DJ sets weekly all across the country. Impressive!

Heasy was lucky enough to catch up with Nina Las Vegas in between gigs over the weekend and chat to her about her upcoming show at Mynt Thursday!

Heasy - What’s new in the world of Nina Las Vegas?

Nina Las Vegas - I’m currently mid-tour at the moment, so looking forward to the next couple of weeks! I have something like five shows next week. I’ve been pretty much everywhere on the tour, I’d like to get to Darwin and Broome later in the year also but for now I’m just playing until the end of May then taking June & July off.

Heasy - I’ve always wanted to ask how the last name ‘Las Vegas’ came about?

Nina Las Vegas - It’s quite simple really, my friend used to sing ‘Nina Las Vegas’ to the tune of ‘Viva Las Vegas’ by Elvis and it just stuck from there!

Heasy - How was your recent tour with Ta-ku? The photo’s and after movie looked insane! How was it?

Nina Las Vegas - Yes it was great! He’s so cool and such an amazing DJ for someone that hasn’t played that much before. He has a great taste in music. The tour was really, really cool!

Heasy - Tell us about ‘Heaps Decent’s latest projects.

Nina Las Vegas – Oh man, I started Heaps Decent in 2007 with my friends Levins and Diplo and these days it is a fully functioning organisation. There is 3-4 workshops that happen each week! At the moment there is the Juvenile Justice, The Wilcannia and the Homebase Program’s all still running and going fantastic! There is an all ages show next week for the Homebase crew which is really exciting and we’ll also be doing a CD later in the year which is also exciting.

Heasy - You’re a self confessed ‘Tweet-aholic’, how many great friendships have been formed due to your addiction?

Nina Las Vegas - (Laughs) Well it definitely makes my job easier. I get sent mixes and direct messages from artists all the time, so it’s a great way to make contact with a lot of people!

Heasy - You get to hang out with some super cool people at Triple J. Who has impressed you the most with their musical talents?

Nina Las Vegas - I’m so privileged to get so many great people come through the triple j offices all the time.
