Lakyn Heperi is a ladies dream. He is handsome, cheeky, a talented skateboarder and plays the guitar. Not to mention he has a voice that could serenade a Great White Shark during mating season. I’ve also heard he can read minds, but that’s another story.
Lakyn’s array of acoustic covers, mash-up’s and original compositions that he posts on his YouTube channel, have amassed over 315,000 plays. Pretty impressive for a guy who records and films everything in his cosy little bedroom in Melbourne’s west. He has covered everything from Biggie to Matt Corby and mashed Gotye with Gorillaz – nothing is impossible for Lakyn. His recent cover of Matt Corby’s ‘Brother’ was super impressive and even caught the eye of Corby’s manager.
His online fan base is growing interstate and overseas, with fans requesting performances from Lakyn in many capital cities across the world. You and I however, will be lucky enough to see him perform live next Thursday at Mynt Lounge. I recommend you come down and catch Lakyn’s performance, which kicks off at 9pm, before he takes on the world!
